To train your cat to scratch acceptable objects, sprinkle catnip and a few food treats on a sisal-wrapped scratching post, a corrugated cardboard scratcher or even a non-treated fireplace log. Place it next to the object you wish to protect.

We took Twiggy in when she was only 1 and 1/2 months old back in 2005. We found her under a pine tree in my grandma's yard, the day after the remnants of Hurricane Katrina battered the area. The poor kitten was out in the storm the whole night, no wonder she hates thunderstorms! Twiggy is such a sweet, loving cat and we are so happy to have her in our home!
