  • Beth Adelman (Managing Editor)
    Beth Adelman was until recently the Editor-in-Chief of Cats magazine, which was named Best National Magazine by the Cat Writers Association under her tenure. Previously, she was a Senior Editor at Dorling Kindersley, where she developed the KISS (Keep it Simple Series) Guides, and the “What Your Pet Needs” series.


  • Pam Johnson-Bennett (Expert Q&A: Behavior & Psychology)
    Feline Behaviorist Pam Johnson-Bennett is the author of a number of award-winning and critically acclaimed books, including Think Like a Cat and Psycho Kitty. The innovative methods described in all her books are based on Pam’s unique way of training by actually understanding the way a cat thinks.

    Pam is the feline expert at the popular women’s network, iVillage. She makes numerous television appearances including CNN, Fox News Channel, and National Geographic specials, as well as being a popular guest on many nationally syndicated radio programs. She is now considered to be one of the leading experts on feline behavior.


  • Dan Christian, DVM (Expert Q&A: Health & Nutrition)
    Dr. Dan Christian specializes in small animal medicine, with special interests in behavior and nutrition. He has been instrumental in establishing animal behavior residencies for veterinarians at leading veterinary schools and developing innovative programs with veterinary organizations in the United States. His nutrition expertise includes developing animal nutrition training tools for retail use and presenting nutritional studies on behalf of the Pet Food Institute to veterinarians in Mexico City and Vera Cruz, Mexico.

    Dr. Christian is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association. During his professional career, Dr. Christian earned the American Association of Feline Practitioners Award. He has also appeared as a guest on television and radio pet health programs nationwide, and to has authored numerous articles for pet health magazines.


  • Marcella Durand (What’s New, Pussycat? writer)
    Marcella Durand is the former Associate Editor of Cats magazine. She has also worked as the Program Coordinator and web site editor of the Poetry Project at St. Marks’ Church, and is the author of a book of poetry, Western Capital Rhapsodies. Marcella has three cats and is active in cat rescue efforts in New York City.

  • Marisa Klein (Cool Cat Stuff review writer)
    Marisa Klein is the former Assistant Editor of Cats magazine. She has also worked at Marie Claire magazine. Marisa has a cat and dog at home who sleep on her bed.

  • Dr. Ilana Reisner (Feature writer)
    Dr. Ilana Reisner graduated from the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. Following a Small Animal internship at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, she entered private veterinary practice in the Boston area. In 1989, Dr. Reisner attended the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine where she completed a residency in animal behavior as a Morris Animal Foundation Fellow.

    Dr. Reisner is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists, a Visiting Fellow at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, and a behavioral consultant in the central New York area. She is past president of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior and the on-line behavioral consultant for the Veterinary Information Network. She has been a featured speaker on the diagnosis and management of animal behavior problems at many meetings and symposia throughout the U.S., Canada and Japan, and is the author of several book chapters, behavioral columns on the Internet, and original articles on behavioral disorders.

  • Sandi Sawchuk, DVM (Feature writer)
    A veterinarian at the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Scool, Sandi Sawchuk has appeared as a feline health expert on the CBS Early Show, and on weekly spots on the local Wisconsin NBC affiliate. She also hosts a cat-care program on Wisconsin Public Radio, and is a guest writer for I Love Cats magazine

  • Liz Palika (Feature writer)
    Liz Palika has written 35 books on pets, several of which have won awards from Dog Writers Association of America, Cat Writers Association, the ASPCA and the San Diego Book Writers Association. She also has been published in a wide variety of magazines, including Newsweek and the Saturday Evening Post. Her areas of expertise include training, nutrition, and animal-assisted therapy. Liz and her husband rescue needy cats, dogs and reptiles.

  • Christine Church (Feature writer)
    Christine Church is the author of several award-winning books, including Housecat: How to Keep Your Indoor Cat Sane and Sound. She writes for a variety of publications devoted to cats, and currently lives with 11 cats and a dog.

  • Sandra Toney (Feature writer)
    Sandra Toney is an award-winning pet writer and photographer, as well as a dedicated shelter volunteer. She lives with her husband and four spoiled felines, and is a frequent contributor to many cat publications.

  • Rebecca Sweat (Feature writer)
    Rebecca Sweat is a freelance writer specializing in pet and family topics. She is a frequent contributor to many cat publications.
