Try to determine your cat's breed (or breeds), as certain health conditions have genetic links. For example, Persians and Abyssinians tend to be at risk for kidney problems, which are manageable if diagnosed early.
Andy is the most adorable kitty I have ever met. I rescued him when he was only 4 weeks old, and though the vet said he wouldn't make it, Andy was a trooper from the start. My apartment in Astoria was too small to keep him -- along with two 14-year-old cats who never liked him -- and at week 9, I had to give him up.
